The municipality of Le Moule (18.086 inhabitants) spreads over 82,9km², facing the Atlantic Ocean, the coast offering splendid beaches of white sand as well as spectacular steep cliffs and calcareous capes sculptured by the sea.
In surface, Moule is the second community of Guadeloupe.
The communities of Saint-François, Petit-Canal and Morne-à-l'Eau border it respectively in the South, the North-west and the West.
The territory consists of calcareous and flat soils in the region of Zévallos, chains of hills in the Grand-Fonds with the highest peak at 135m.
The climate is gentle and rather dry, cooled by the Trade Winds, which also bring the rain.
Showers fall frequently, but are not enough abundant to water dense vegetation.
Like in the entire region of Grande-Terre, in course of time the natural landscape has been replaced by sugar cane plantations, which consolidated its position as a wealthy community - despite of wars, natural disasters, social and political changes.
Up today these cultivations constitute an important ecomomical factor.
