Damencourt   The future Door of Moule

In order to develop its economy and thus employment,
Le Moule can bet on its extraordinary ressources
as for tourism and leisure activities.

The development of the Damencourt area will be undertaken this way, nevertheless without forgetting the other ressources as there are crafts, trade and agriculture.

The works on the development area will start at the end of the year 1999. The area stretches on a surface of 20 ha (50 acres) at the north-west entry of Le Moule, between the Oceanfront Boulevard - actually at works - and the future bypass road.

Tomorrow Damencourt will be:

Amer-indian archaeological site

Excavations are undertaken in order to preserve the historical patrimony at a site called Morel on seaside.
The organization of the digging site is supervised by the DRAC (Regional department of cultural affairs) and the University of Leiden (Holland).

This site gives evidence of an amer-indian presence in Guadeloupe during almost 2000 years. The area spreads over 1000mē (0,25 acres) and will be protected and made-up for visitors: reconstitution of a digging site, kids' area, afforestation with native plants. The end of works is scheduled for end 2000.
